Council approves salary raise 
JAKARTA: The City Council has approved a salary increase for civil servants.

Perhaps, this (increase) will be realized in August, Deputy Speaker Dani Anwar said on Sunday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com. 

Dani said the raise had been stipulated by a government regulation, but later canceled due to a budget deficit of Rp 1.8 trillion (US$191.5 million) this year. 

Dani said the administration could still deliver the raise this year if it cut non-urgent spending. 

He also urged officials to increase the province’s income, possibly by raising the vehicles tax.
